The Chez Marie guesthouse in Brateș is surrounded by a rural landscape from Neamț overlooking the mountains and the Tarcău forest and is only a few km away from the area's churches and monasteries. From us you can go on tourist routes with our bikes or hiking along the rivers Ața, Brateș, Bolovaniș and Tărcuța. Located on the valley of the Brateş stream and on its discharge into the Tarcăului water, our village is in an area of true spiritual relaxation. Near Brateș, the splendor of the mountains brings us even closer to the shady riverbed of the Tarcău stream. The terraces are narrowed only by being able to pull themselves out of the embrace of the forest, and the boiling waters burst from the stars, covering the sunny eyes with rainbow fragments. Brateș was in the commune of Tarcău, located in the southwest part of Neamț county, at a distance of 21 km from the municipality of Piata Neamț and 5 km from Bicaz city. As a geographic area, the guesthouse is in the area of the massive Gosman Tarcău, and nearby sightseeing can be visited such as Bicazului Keys, Poiana Teiului Dam, Piatra Neamț City with the Royal Court, Alexandru cel Bun Monastery and Părărați Monastery. Monasteries and hermitages

- Sihastria Tărcăului Monastery, Părăraţi Monastery, Brateş Hermitage -

Visit the Sihastria Tărcăului Monastery, mentioned in a document from 1832, located on the Tarcăului Valley, between the villages Brateş and Ardeluţa, in the heart of Mount Goşman. Since 1991, the hermitage of Sihastria Tarcăului has a monastery status and is a historical monument. In Părărati, in 1460, the Cious Simeon erected the first wooden church, with the dedication of Saint Martyr Dimitrie. The Lord of Moldova, Alexandru Lapusneanu, builds in 1560, instead of the wooden church, the stone church, which we admire now. In the church, icons of great beauty are preserved, illustrating the fame of the iconographers from Părăraţi and the great iconographic school that worked here. *

Neamț Fortress, Royal Court

The royal fortress is the beautiful founding of Stefan cel Mare and is still preserved today in the city of Piatra Neamț being known as the historical center of the city. Located on a small plateau around which the present city has developed, the architectural complex is made up of the “Sf. Ioan Botezătorul ”, the Tower-bell tower and the Court Doamneasca. Further, you can visit in the immediate vicinity of the city of Tîrgu Neamt, the Neamt Fortress, a truly impressive medieval fortress. Built during the time of Peter the Muscat of Moldova, the city of Neamt knows the most flourishing period during Stephen the Great.

The "Iulia Hălăucescu" art museum

"The lady of the Romanian watercolor", as the renowned art critic Valentin Ciuca called it, created over half a century more than 200 paintings comprising, among others, "The Palace of Cnejilor", "Rock of the Dragon from Poiana Teiului" , "The Flutes of Bistrita", many portraits of peasants who seem to tell us their story. The permanent exhibition of the museum covers an area of 100 square meters arranged like a story land, which reveals the charm of Tarcăului from another time. *

Natural reservations

- Goşman Forest Reserve, Brateş Wildlife Reserve, Bolovănişului Waterfall and Gorge -

For a weekend hike, choose Goşman Forest Reserve, Brateş Wildlife Reserve, Cascada and Bolovăniş Gorges. On the left side of the Goşmanu stream, where it meets the Tarcău stream, further up the hill from the village of Ardeluţa, on a slope of the mountain, starting from the height of about 700 meters up to 1300 meters, is the Goşman Forest Reserve, a secular forest, a real thicket. Further on, on the Tarcăului Valley we follow the path of the Bolovăniş forest road, because, one of the streams that flows into the Tarcău stream, Bolovăniş, about 5 km before the spillway forms a waterfall of amazing beauty, the Bolovăniş Waterfall. *

Hiking trail in the Tarcău-Brateş area

Take a real hike, start the trail on a dirt road that winds through a forest parallel to the Brateș stream. This road leads to the sandstone quarry. You can drive by car to your career. From here, continue on foot towards the St. Elijah Chapel - Hungarian Armadillo. Don't venture into a career because the trail leads to a wildlife viewing point. Continue on the road until you come to a sign informing you that you still have 4 km to St. Elijah Chapel. From here, turn right onto the first forest road that leads directly into the forest. Following that road, at one point you will see Bâtca Răchitei Peak. *

Life in the countryside

The rural area is good to be kept holy. A walk in the surroundings will take you through the villages and hamlets scattered along the country's twin streets, fields with grazing cows and green forests with deer, wild boars and foxes. Along the way you will see the old stone churches and monasteries and the hermitages. Relax and rest in our gardens, spend your free time, read or write, take nature walks and hiking in the woods directly from our gate. In the hamlets around us it seems that time has remained still and it is a wonderful experience to take a look at the lives of local farmers.
